8" FHD+ android tablet (or possibly windows) with great battery life

Based on experiments in bargain tablets 8" is about the right size for a tablet for me.
I use it for ereader, video, web browsing, and a few puzzle-style games.

I'm looking for 8" family (pocketable size), FHD+ (1080 or better), good 2-d performance, and long battery life with SD card support. Min 2G ram.

My current tablet is a manuf. refurb A1-840FHD, but when I went looking:

Ipad is too closed off and DRM infected, and expensive to boot.
Samsung S2 is way too expensive
Nook HD+ is way old and the 2D performance is poor
Samsung Galaxy S 8.4 is still too expensive at $170, and I'm concerned even new stock batteries are getting kind of old
Dell 3840 is a POS with overheating problems and 1Gb is too small for an Atom.
Dell Venue 8 7840 is out of production now, and the replacement is a windows tablet thats over $500
Zenpad is expensive (way expensive for the good one with the 4Gb memory) and doesn't have good battery life according to reviews
The LG hi-res tablets (VK810, 815, X 8.0) are only available with cell contracts or 2nd hand, and they're high right now (my credit is crap due to medical bill circumstances, so I'm not going to be able to take advantage of the t-mobile X 8.0 deal or anything like that).
Sony Z3 compact is way out of my price range
NVidia Shield pricing is holding pretty firm at $200
Haven't seen the Predator (Asus? Acer?) under $200 anywhere
Xaomi MiPad 2 - non expandable, 64Gb version way too expensive
Insignia Elite Flex - bad battery life per reviews, custom rom available that supposedly helps but support v. limited for that, don't think it had all that big battery capacity in the first place (want to say c. 2600mah based on ebay research as I remember it, but the only listing today shows a 4000mAh battery).
Lenovo Yoga 2 - out of production. The Yoga 3 is not FHD.

Among the c. $100 China tablets I've only really looked at the Chuwi and Teclast - the Chuwi Hi8 pro looks like the best based on 4000 mAh (Teclast X80 FHD versions are c. 3800Mah), but the A1-840FHD has a supposed battery capacity of 4600 mah (although the Hi8pro chipset is supposed to be about 20% more efficient than the FHD chipset), and being able to dual boot is nice.

So, if you've had the patience to read all that:

* Is there anything coming out soonish that's 8" family, FHD, and good battery life?
* Can anyone comment on the Chuwi Hi8 pro battery life?
* Is there a brand/model that I haven't listed above that's worth looking for?
* Does anyone have a lead on (in)decent prices (sub $140 delivered) for new/new other Yoga 2, S 8.4, or 7840, or MiPad 2 64Gb?
* Does anyone make a battery pack that's big and flat and skinny - e.g. tablet shaped instead of phone shaped with charge-through so I could hack it into a case?

Thanks in advance
