$109.99 With code: TGIF. Free Shipping is automatic

http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=605500

This is the cheapest price I have seen on these studio monitors. Usually $170.79 with shipping costs of around $25. I have read online that these are the exact same studio monitors as the M-Audio BX5a. The coupon code TGIF is only active for today so get em fast.

I am a noob to posting, sorry if done incorrectly.

Great deal on these speakers and I believe the lowest they've ever been. These are very comparable to the M-Audio BX5a Deluxe speakers. (Current generation is BX5 Carbon) and really an outstanding value.

I'm buying a pair to replace my current BX5a deluxe speakers who have seen better days.

These are absolutely perfect for your desktop computer or for listening to music from your laptop computer. The speakers are larger than traditional "computer" speakers, but also sound much better. IMO, they sound better with more low-end than most 2.1 desktop computer systems. Monoprice does also offer a "pro" subwoofer that has XLR connections that could be used in conjunction with these powered monitors.

This is a legit FP deal at this price. You will not be disappointed.

Can I connect these directly to my computer? I'm guessing not as I'd be coming from a headphone out jack only on a Mac Mini. Info appreciated. Thanks.

these will be my 1st pair of studio monitors so im not 100% sure but its recommended that you get an audio interface.

You can, but will need a 3.5mm (headphone) to XLR https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CYX-4...B000068OEP

-or-

3.5mm (headphone) to TRS cord.
Monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/product?...1&format=2
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP-1...B005HGM1D6

XLR is not needed as the headphone end does not have the ground anyway...

These will accept trs input. You can get stereo to dual mono Y cable and hook them up to your mac. There are also xlr to rca adapters available but they won't add any value in this set up.

IMO, really not needed unless you are doing PRO mixing. Certainly not a requirement to getting the speakers to work.

These are a schematic copy of the M-Audio BX5s with the addition of an HF control. While I can't say the same quality components are used internally they sound near identical side-by-side to BX5 D2s. At this price I am going to get another pair as backups/second room. You can't touch this sound at this price anywhere else for monitoring.

Not sure of the deal here but worth a try for anyone without monitors or curious enough for an extra set. Buy a Scarlett 2i2 interface and you're ready to go for $200 or so.

Why do folks keep trying to sell a $100 interface that no one here needs unless they are doing microphone mixing.

Read the specs. These speakers accept a standard unbalanced mono 1/4" phone plug. That means you just get a cable that has a normal stereo 3.5mm (mini earphone) jack at one end and that splits to 2 Left Right large phone plugs.

Here is the exact cable on Amazon that is recommended by the top ranked reviewer for these speakers on Amazon. $4.50 for 10 feet. [amazon.com]

No advantage of adding a $100 box in between. Kind of destroys the bargain. If you want a fancy Digital to Audio Converter, fine, get one designed for a home computer not a microphone mixer.
