I have this model and just wanted to say while it works well, do yourself a favor and get a large sd card as the loop recording will not overwrite old videos so the device will fill up and you'll have to delete each 3 min video individually to get the recording option back. That plus the user interface to do so is horrible to get the video to delete, so I just take my card in the house and format it once it fills up , but its a huge pain.

It's good to know the camera's decent, so it'll be good enough for some people, but the fact it doesn't auto-loop and record over itself is a complete deal breaker for me. TU for the deal anyway.

Strange since the manual says there is a "Delete all" option.

SDers-- do yourself a favor and spend the extra bucks to get the most recommended entry-model dashcam instead.

The most recommended but has 3/5 stars on Amazon?

Do not get this if it doesn't loop. Looping is like a basic requirement for a dash cam.

Um....3 out of 5 stars? Recommendation from a brand new user? Yeah not a scam at all! Funny thing is that in the recommended product scroll on that page there are several cameras with higher ratings for about the same price.

implying Amazon ratings are the end all/be all = wootwootwoot

go to various dash cam forums, websites, the dashcam subreddit, or what have you-- the g1w models are proven.

Or you can go ahead and go with these generic models to save a "few bucks" that might bite you in the ass when you're involved in an accident/fender bender costing you a few hundred.

FWIW, I bought one of these when it was on SD before. I don't seem to have any issues with loop recording using the 8GB microSD card that came with it.

I'll throw in a vote for the G1w as the go-to "cheap but works" dashcam. If this model doesn't overwrite/loop, then it's basically not a dash cam, it's just a cam. I love that my G1W has been recording every minute of my driving time for the last two years without me having to do anything. It's there if I ever need it.

Gonna throw in my two cents and recommend the Xiaomi Yi Dash Cam. Can be had on eBay and gearbest for about $50 recently. It was voted by CarCamCentral and other online reviews as one of the best under $100. Been using it for about two weeks since it popped up on SD and I am very impressed. It has a mobile app, so you can use your phone to access, download and erase the videos on the memory card through the cams built in wifi. You can find many samples of it's recordings if you want to see the video quality.

I have this camera and have to say this is a great deal. For those who were wondering, this camera does have an auto looping feature. The only time you will have to erase the memory card manually is if the 'emergency' classified videos fill up your card. These videos are recorded and saved if the camera detects an accident or the like, and sometimes a large pothole will trigger this feature.

Otherwise great camera and very wide angle.
