He was writing this storyline in the early 80's.... The last time I read it.

BTW, did anyone watch the TV show? I have little recollection of the books, or the TV was way off from the books. I thought the TV show was terrible, weather it followed the books or not.

I was wanting to give the TV show a shot - the reviews said it was cheesy but still worth a watch

IMO the TV show was a travesty. If you enjoy Terry Brooks I'd say do yourself a favor and pass.

Agreed with what was said above, the TV show was basically unwatchable if you read the books.

I have not read the books, but agree. I actually have a paperback of the first in the original trilogy that I haven't gotten around to reading. We should have known better after discovering it was an MTV show. It's kind of like a sappy teen drama / romance / love triangle with some dark overlord being revived because a tree was dying. I could tell early on that the books just HAD to be better than show. I was reminded of how bad SyFy butchered Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke.

We have quite a few shows to watch right now, and I'm really not sure that season 2 will make the cut when it comes back.
