Tks Op.

FYI, Verizon J3, although take Nano-sim, but it is locked to Verizon.

You will not be able to change Network mode to either [Global] or [GSM/WCDMA/LTE] as in the case for non-prepaid model. Ex. Samsung S6 Edge +

p.s. I never bought Verizon J1, thus, I can't say if it will behave the same.

If you want to use these on Verizon postpaid, you have to pay for 1 month of service on Verizon prepaid - cheapest Verizon prepaid smartphone plan is the WiFi only plan for $30 + taxes/fees.

After taxes, that would bring the total cost of the J3 to about $100 if you want to use it on postpaid. For $100 it is fine to use as a backup device or if you boat/fish/beach and don't want to take your good phone with you when you are around water.

Using without any service (kid using mp3s and maybe a few non-connected apps)... J1 or moto e? They're both $30.

Does this mean I can't switch the J3 to a Smart Talk prepaid card? I bought a J3 this morning, then I realized I could get 3X as much data through Smart Talk for $15 more a month than Verizon. BTW, I know absolutely nothing about phones, just in case that's exactly what you meant by your post.

I am not familiar with Smart Talk, but I have tried att and Ultra mobile sim card without able to change Network mode in Verizon J3 prepaid out of the box.

If anyone able to change the Network Mode in Verizon J3 SM-J320VPP with any mean, please do let us know. tks,

Just bought a Verizon prepaid phone. It says on the box you can swap it out to another provider after 1 month of prepaid service.

just FYI. Verizon prepaid does not work with postpaid plan. my g4 stopped working and I thought about getting this to hold up from a while. it did not work. this is the most idiot company. ended up moving out to GSM.
