I hope this PSA will calm a few down, as I was a little hot to receive 3 emails today from Discover, notifying me they had switched me to the Discover IT card and mailed me a new card for it and activated my benefits.

The reason I was hot: If I sign up for a new Discover IT account, I would get the double cash back bonus after the first year. However if they switched me I would not get the bonus. I have been considering doing this for a while, and I understand many of you already have. I also was not happy to have an extensive hold time to get ready for a fight that was not needed.

Yes I know this is not a hot deal, or necessarily the "proper forum". Some users will grouch about it. Whatever. I always see this heads up notices here that would not be noticed in another forum since there is not really a specific one for it. So take a chill pill. hug

I was on hold for about 20 minutes to find out this is the exact reason why their phones are so backed up today. They assured me this is a system error and I am not being switched and no one else is either without their consent. they are not mailing me a new card for a new IT account.

Of course, do your own due diligence, just might not want to during peak hours. They answer calls 24/7.

I just walked my dog and he pooped while we were out.

Oh, and this is a little off-topic, but I ate some Cocoa Krispies for breakfast and holy crap, were they delicious!!!

The word I used is not "the magic words". You must have a one word (the E word) deal alert. I didn't use the P or the M words.

This is a huge issue according to them.
They are and will continue to be flooded for quite a while with calls from upset customers. Give me your non magic work synonym and it will undoubtedly set off other folks' alerts, but I would like to know your suggestion seriously. Reps in advance since I will take it as constructive criticism.

Did you try asking for the double cash back offer? About a year ago there was a post here about Discover giving it to existing customers who requested it. Don't know if they' still do it but I should be getting my bonus on my next statement.

Yes it is still available, but only for those who open a fresh new account for it. If they really had switched me I would either demand the offer be added (even though it wasn't a new account so they may refuse) or closed the account. That is the fight I was mentally preparing for. Thanks for asking.
