The reason I was hot: If I sign up for a new Discover IT account, I would get the double cash back bonus after the first year. However if they switched me I would not get the bonus. I have been considering doing this for a while, and I understand many of you already have. I also was not happy to have an extensive hold time to get ready for a fight that was not needed.
Yes I know this is not a hot deal, or necessarily the "proper forum". Some users will grouch about it. Whatever. I always see this heads up notices here that would not be noticed in another forum since there is not really a specific one for it. So take a chill pill.
I was on hold for about 20 minutes to find out this is the exact reason why their phones are so backed up today. They assured me this is a system error and I am not being switched and no one else is either without their consent. they are not mailing me a new card for a new IT account.
Of course, do your own due diligence, just might not want to during peak hours. They answer calls 24/7.
