Somehow my college ring (Class of 1977) shrunk over the years so I dropped by a jewelers to ask about getting it resized. He told me that they couldn't resize Siladium (the material these are typically made from -- a stainless steel alloy). Not being one to take no for an answer, what I found is that Balfour and ArtCarved (a Balfour brand) who made my ring will resize the ring (within 2 sizes) for free. Here are links to Balfour Warranty [] and ArtCarved Warranty []. You notice that the mailing address is the same for both.

They will charge you $14.95 shipping/handling/insurance.

I thought it was pretty darn cool to have my ring back for so little money!

I would suggest you call 1-877-225-3687 for College rings, 1-800-225-3687 for High School rings before you send your ring to make sure all the information is current. More importantly, if there is damage to your ring, they may not be able to simply resize it in which case you need to understand what they're going to do with the ring so you're not disappointed.

Obviously, you'll also need to to have a jeweler size your finger so you can tell Balfour the new size. The jeweler can also measure your ring to make sure you're within two sizes to get the free resizing. Most jewelers won't charge you for doing this.

If your ring isn't a Balfour or ArtCarved ring, check the manufacturer's website to see if they have a similar limited lifetime warranty.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Are class rings even popular anymore? They weren't when I was in school.

Depends on the school. Good schools tend to be more into class rings.
