How do these compare to ATH M50x? Not much of an audiophile but either one is on my wish list

I personelly love Sennheiser brand and sometimes make fun of other brands, espically if ther are in the same category of price range....but ATX50.....gotta admit.....they are nice headphones, and maybe even better than HD598 which are my favorite.

I'm a music producer that has both. They each have vastly different sound signatures and serve different purposes. The M50's are much more detailed on the hi's, the HD7's are rolled off. 7's are more focused on low mids and bass. Just think of their purposes. M50's were designed as a reference headphone and the HD7's are meant for DJs. HD7's have an extremely snug fit (in a good way). Enough clamping force to almost be noise cancelling and are overall much less fatiguing to listen to.

I prefer M50s overall, but for casual listening they can get harsh after a while.

These are pretty decent to DJing, fits in my carrying case and hasn't broken with plenty of abuse throwing in my backpack without a case and such. Yeah, the highs aren't crisp, but the low end is good. I prefer these over my 598 as they have a better bass response. But 598 win for more of a flat presence.
