TP-LINK TL-WN822N_RE High Gain Wireless Adapter Manufacturer Recertified IEEE 802.11b/g/n Mini USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Yes this is an older model. I bought one refurbished a few years ago and it is still working. If you need a good wireless adapter for a cheap price...here it is.

TP-Link is terrible company. They make unreliable products that break within a year

Anything at this price point will break a lot. Their higher end stuff is not as bad. It's really hit or miss with this company

What does this item do exactly?

I have a couple of TP Link routers and modems, they are fantastic.

I disagree. They are just as good (or bad) as any other home network brands. I have several TP-Link products, including this exact item, and they are still working fine after several years of use.

you might not need it if you don't know what it does. that said, it adds wi-fi to a computer. not pictured it a USB cable that plugs this into a computer.

Won't connect to 5GHz which is far better than 2.4. I used to use this adapter and was very disappointed in its performance.

There appears to be no way of knowing what guts you are going to get.

"The TL-WN822N USB wireless adapter by TP-LINK comes with 3 versions. The version 1 uses two different chipsets, which is Atheros AR9170 and AR9102 while version 2 has the Atheros AR7010 and AR9287 chipsets, and the latest version 3 uses Realtek RTL8192CU. The chipset on a USB wireless adapter is the most important information but normally is not shown on the product box or even on the device itself."

This is high gain adapter and i use it mainly for travel to catch wifi signals for distance or in hotels. Don't see any major need for AC or dual band

If you have a Channel Master over the air DVR, this will work. Beats paying $40 for theirs.

Nobody needs n at this time either.

But for people who want to get faster wireless speeds, AC is for them.

i buy cheapest n150 mini usb adapters on ebay. so far only one of many arrived broken. all work for me, never fail. i pay average $2-3.50 for an adapter. That's generic ebay garbage. How bad can this be?
