Anyone know if can throw this into a HP Proliant ML10 v2 server?

I currently have a i3-4150 in there and it's painfully slow

This one doesn't have a integrated graphic unit, if you replace your current i3 by this one you will need a individual graphic card.

I'm a little lost by this statement...

My server isn't hooked up to any monitor, and not planning on it.

I have have VMware running on it, with a couple win server vm's running.

Is the graphics needed just for video output, or actually for the OS to boot?

Also, see if you can get a used i7-4790; it has onchip graphics. I sold mine for $259 before Christmas. Hated 4790K, Intel's QC is terrible these days, one chip can be cool and dandy, the other can be extremely hot and burns through wattage.

I am not going buy Intel again if AMD's ZEN proves stable and competitive.
