Rock solid movement. Can be regulated to cosc specs, but I wouldn't expect it out of the box.

This is a good price, but I would highly recommend getting it on a bracelet.

The speedy pro looks fantastic on straps, but it's a lot easier to add a deployant and a strap later.

Bought a deployant from the Omega Boutique last year. It was about $300. Then you can add OEM straps or get very nice aftermarket ones. Both work great.

I would personally find an AD to work with. It's not unheard of to get 25% pretty much any Omega. I know because I did on my speedmaster 57 last year and that was a brand new model for 2016.

Gray dealers will almost always offer the best deal, and I don't see anything wrong with going gray, but paying a bit more at an AD is ideal because you get manufacturer warranties.

No, they do not. They ride them. This one is particularly fast.

I'm going to chime in since all sorts of nonsense is being spouted in this thread.

First things first. This watch is not collectable nor is it something any collector would want. It is a mass produced watch that is readily available everywhere, including places like jomashop.

Secondly, and the more important part. The Omega speedmaster is an absolute icon. This is a watch that has never gone out of style and never will. No other manufacturer has an iconic watch that is as close to its legendary ancestors as the moonwatch. Is this the watch that went to the moon? No. Is it damn close considering how much time has passed? Yes. Does it maintain that heritage? Absolutely.

Icons from other manufacturers have changed so much that they look and feel nothing like they watches they came from. They are still great, but no icon has been maintained like the speedmaster pro has.

As far value goes, this price is good and history has shown that speedmasters maintain value well. It probably won't jump dramatically, but no mass produced watch of the modern Era does.

Excellent price. I may finally have to pull the trigger. I've read about the different movements online, but does anyone have an opinion on the 1861 here?

I agree with everything you said, except the necessity for a bracelet. I personally think that the speedy bracelet is ugly, but that is a matter of opinion. I have my Planet Ocean on a NATO because I prefer straps or bands.

I considered buying a new one like this but eventually rolled the dice and gambled on one off of ebay for $2k. Lucked out and managed to get exactly what I wanted - a 1977 birth year Speedy, model 145.022, in much better condition than the pictures had made it look. It's off for a service right now (which will likely be at least $600). Still a good deal for a vintage one.

Awesome deal for an awesome watch. Buying a Speedy Pro has always been on my bucket list but think I like the idea of a birth year watch.

I agree with getting the watch on the bracelet regardless if you like it or not because it becomes a much better value. I had a Speedmaster Racing on a bracelet but typically wore it on an OEM Condura strap vs my Broad Aarow that I do wear on the original bracelet.

This is a solid watch but it's really common and gets no respect from luxury watch community. This is an ancient design and should really be retired by now. Whoever wears this watch will basically scream "I don't know jack about watches and I just got ripped off by Omega".
