Thanks for the post, but ZMoto is not the best brand and still rather high priced, even though its 8 cameras HD. You can find about the same, with maybe 4 cameras for around $299 on sale at various places.

To spend the extra on the higher end HD, depends heavily on the usage. Honestly, I can't see needing such HD for general security. But for intense needs (like watching how much someone might be stealing from the till), then it could be useful.

I spend a lot of time at my place and nothing ever happens here anyway. But if it did, I can easily see what I need to see (for $199.. 720p 8 channel 8 cams), then get my Ruger and take care of any problem. Smilie

Thanks for the advice, that's really helpful! I'm still thinking if I'm going to spend 500 plus on installation might just get a better 1080P system, as long as it's worth the investment. What do you think?

The Q&A says 1TB lasts 30 days before overriding, so I'm guessing 60 days for 2TB? But it's HD so might be shorter.

3 hours is around 4gb continuous recording with one camera with my 3mp HIK which is slightly over 1080p. 8 cameras continuous would be 32gb in 3 hours * 8 hrs = 256gb per day. 1tb / 256gb is just under 4 days. So I would guesstimate 7-10 days 24/7 recording with 8 1080p cams.

If you only record at motion detection, obviously the number of days would be much much more.

Disclaimer: Mine is from Blue Iris, not a dedicated DVR, so the encoding could be different which would result in different file sizes.
