Best Buy User Review:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-e...merreviews

"Just bought it and ran some benchmarks (25 samples of 10MB) on linux,
USB 3.0 had write speeds of 3.2 MB/s and Reads of 207 MB/s
USB 2.0 had write speeds of 5.7 MB/s and reads of 39.4 MB/s
It has awful write speeds so I am returning it."

Glad I found that review; I was going to pick up the 32GB drive until I read this.

No reviews on the Elite X, and with the Turbo Elite supposedly being the better one I don't think I would buy either. Sure you get 115 mb/s reads, but that write performance at 40 mb/s is abysmal. I don't think most flash drive's writes are that poor. I.e. with sandisk extreme.

Why is the Turbo Elite the supposed better one?

Turbo Elite = Read up to 115MB/s
Elite X = Read up to 185MB/s

While their write speeds are no where near Sandisk Extreme I would assume the Elite X would be faster if not the same in write speeds compared to the Turbo Elite. I grabbed a cheap 64GB to try out and I'll throw up a review once I get it. I have several Sandisk Extreme drives and have vowed not to get any other drive until something better comes along (price/perf/quality).

What's odd is PNY website doesn't list them. At least I couldn't find them.

I don't know if you know this, but today is Prime day. A day when Amazon supposedly has Black Friday deals. So it makes sense that a website for posting deals is filled with Amazon deals on Prime day.

I bought one. Figured it'll be a cheap backup drive for my server. No clue what the write speeds are, unfortunately

I thought that flash drives are not good backup applications as they are more prone to failure/errors than other types of media.

You're probably right. But it's more for a Veeam backup of my SSD on my server. More a backup of the configuration and settings more than anything. All my real data in on several hard drives.

last time walmart was gonna make a go of competing.. but it more looks like a day to liquidate wares from late February and March which were bought at a 10 to 20pct wholesale discount when the yuan was devalued.
these deals are crap compared to spot prices during those months
