Thread Details

EVGA B-Stock has a GeForce GTX 970 SSC GAMING ACX 2.0 for 199.99 after instant rebate.

This is supposed to be one of the fastest versions of the 970, and for about 200 seems about right in the current market. Stock is likely limited.

isn't the 1060 coming out next week for 50 dollars more, faster than the 980?

Suggested retail price means nothing, the 1070 is going $50-100 more than the suggested retail price of $379. If you're willing to pony up $300 for the 1060, then might as well wait for the 1070 to come down.

-3.50GB + .5 GB VRAM.
-DX12 performance not so great in the long run(although, it remains to be seen how many upcoming games will actually use DX12 in the coming year or two).
-Unknown stock status for the GTX 1060 launch. If limited, prices could be higher than the stated MSRP for a few weeks to as much as a few months.

Highly recommend purchasing a GTX 1000 series or an RX 480 8GB (AIB partner version).

This is still a great card at a great price.
Paired with a decent CPU, you can expect this to run games at medium high to ultra for the next couple years.

$20 shipping for me. It's a deal breaker. A lot of GTX 970 are recently for $250 - $30 rebate, FS - new. This one makes no sense then.

Actually it went from faster than the 980, to equivalent of a 980, to faster than a 970...

Nice!! I just pre-ordered an ASUS RX 480 8GB from B&H Photo earlier today. NewEgg = ultra out of stock. I too have a GTX 750 Ti! I'm going to be selling my existing video card, an old video card, and an old CPU. Should net me ~$150 to make the RX 480 $100.

I started playing Just Cause 3 and when I tried at 4K it was dying LOL. At 1920x1080 it does quite alright, unless things get really heavy. The RX 480 will be my first "expensive" video card lol... I've only ever spent ~$120 on video cards over the years. Suits me fine, I usually wait about a year after games that interest me come out so that I end up paying half price or less (e.g. Steam Sale prices)! As an "adult" I don't have the pressure of having to buy the game on the release date so that I can play with friends lol. It's not going to change my life, and a game bought for $20 vs. $60 makes a lot more sense.

I say go RX 480. Newer card, smaller manufacturing process, more efficient, and potentially cheaper since B&H at least = no tax, free expedited shipping so it's $250 all in.

Another thing: "All B-Stock products include a 1 Year Limited Warranty."

So keep that in mind!! The RX 480 has a 3 year warranty (at least the ASUS version)..
