Amazon currently has the FLIRC USB Universal Remote Receiver for $22.95, which is the MSRP. Under the "Special Offers and Product Promotions," there's two discounts:

Save 20% each on Qualifying items offered by Flirc Inc. when you purchase 1 or more.
Save 30% each on Qualifying items offered by Flirc Inc. when you purchase 1 or more.

When you add this to your cart and go to the checkout screen, the price goes down to $11.47 +tax due to these two discounts. Sold by Flirc and fulfilled through Amazon. This doesn't appear to be a Prime Day discount of any sort so no Prime membership required. $35+ is required for free shipping though for non-Prime members.

Yes, almost any universal ir remote will do, you pair and program and use it to control your Fire TV, PS4, Plex etc.

I'm tempted to try one to see if I can get anywhere with a Harmony 650 and my PS4 for Plex, netflix, etc. From what I've read it can be pain to program this thing.

Edit - aw screw it... I bought one. For $11 I'll give it a shot.

Honestly now that I think about it I used to have an IRman which in theory is like this, but a big IR receiver with a serial port on it. I used that to control winamp etc on my HTPC, before there were any HTPCs or media center remotes. Like windows 2000 I think. Hooked up to my big screen rear projection POS TV with an ATI Rage 128 card, because that one had S-Video output. Damn I'm old.

This thing is a cake walk to program. Load up any PC, program it, and you're done. The settings are saved on the device, so if you program for a PC and then move it to another device, it keeps the settings. It functions like a USB keyboard, so any device that supports USB keyboards will support this. I have two of them, just bought two more!
