Can anyone comment on the quality of these? I've had other solar rechargeables die on me after a few months...

I have these all around the outside of my house. These are nice. They absorb the sun during the day. At night, they stay on dim mode. When you get close, they go bright and stay bright for about a minute, then go back to dim mode.

Anyway, mine have survived 1.5 years so far, and are still going strong.

And $6.90 is about the true price for these. Don't buy the $12-$13 ones on amazon. Those are literally the same ones as these.

I can't comment on the quality of these, but I got the rosewill two light motion solar one and I love it. It let's you direct the two lights in different directions and has an on/off switch. More expensive, but I like it. Just two cents.

There is no mention of the brand, but I have something that is similar looking. Its AWESOME. It auto shuts off when there is enough light and puts itself into charge mode. When it gets dark, it turns on using a low light setting. As soon as there is movement near it, it hits high power which is bright as hell. A few seconds after it hits high, it will go back to low power mode.

NOTE: mine has the same shape and look but does NOT have that dome over the LEDs. I assume that is there just to soften the lights glow?

Also note: It mentions the on\off switch. They are smoking something because the "switch" is hidden inside the device and in order to access it you have to use a needle or something that size to push it. (Similar to the way you take out the SIM of an iPhone)

It works most of the time, but not all the time. When it is cloudy for a couple days it wont work especially in the winter. So do not use it where it would be "mission-critical". I use it to light up the area around my trash can. Even if it wont work on few occasions, its ok for me.

When it does work, its good- the light output is decent and provides enough light for my purpose which is to fill the trash can with filled garbage bags and then wheel it away towards the driveway.

Now the only complaint I have is that there should have been a way to completely turn it off in the absence of motion which I cannot do so on mine - it just dims itself waiting for motion to happen and brighten up when there is motion (this is in the dar, during day it turns off completely). In the process it wastes battery power and also may output dim light that may not be desired.

Also know that it has to be in direct sunlight for at least 4 hours everyday in order for optimum performance. Any less and you would not be able to operate all the time. Mine is fixed to a location that receives morning sun 4 hours at least. I used to have another make (Westinghouse) solar light in this location that died in few months and its replacement also died possibly within a few months possibly due to solar over-heating. This one is ok so far...about 1.5 years.

At the price it is a good buy and I am going for a second one now.
