As mentioned here: http://www.xda-developers.com/boo...-variants/

ZTE is providing a bootloader unlocking method to both the ZTE Axon 7 and the ZTE Zmax Pro. Unlocking it however, will totally VOID your warranty. I assume similar to how motorola does it they will keep a database of all the device id's (IMEI etc). Keep in mind this phone has a generous two year warranty with your credit card adding a third year (most cards). -- FameWolf

Developers no need to worry, you can work on your applications without unlocking the bootloader.

This is not a developer friendly phone as ZTE is unlikely to unlock the bootloader. There's no known root method as of now.
They likely have their own backdoors Smilie Stick Out Tongue

They can have my data if they want. What's the worse they can do with it? lol.
They can't come busting in my door unlike the NSA.

They can sell it in the blackmarket, at least the NSA is only supposed to use it if you are a naughty person

Eh, it's not worth much on Blackmarket. The whole threat landscape has moved to ransomware now. With credit monitoring, financial data are worth very little on the dark web now. I work in InfoSec so trust me on this.

You will not. ZTE announce that only China will get 6gb. It's not set in stone but it's very unlikely we will see that version in USA anytime soon.

isn't like 50cents for a SSN?

it's pretty worthless.

Does anyone know where one could pre-order a gray unit without tax? I tried to order it directly through the ZTE website, but it showed an estimated tax of $24 at checkout. Thanks.

I think ZTE check out take away taxes at last step? That's what ppl on ZTE USA forum said. I didn't try it yet as Gray is listed to ship 20 days later than gold.

Good specs for the price. Hopefully the next nexus will have better specs for lower price. None of the huawei price premium tacked on like the nexus 6p.

Specs are great for the price, but I'll wait to see reviews of performance before I order. Had to return my Oneplus 3 because of major bugs in the OS.
