High Pressure
The Nespresso U features 19 bars of pressure, which simply means that this quality machine uses high pressure to pump hot water through the ground espresso. This ensures the beautiful, foamy crema on top of the cup. Basically a mixture of emulsified oil and air, crema relies on a pump-driven machine with high pressure. Many lower-quality machines use 10 or 15 bars of pressure.

The Inissia is the entry level model that functions just like the Pixie. Main difference is that the Pixie has a metal exterior; whereas the Inissia is all plastic. I believe the internals for all Nespresso (Pixie, Inissia, Citiz) pretty much work the same way. The Pixie is the model made in Switzerland, the others may be from China/Hungary.

Is it correct to assume that the Pixie might be the higher-quality of the three then?

I'm looking to buy an espresso maker. What are good specs that I should expect for $100 if these are garbage specs? Thanks for sharing your knowledge to help me.

These are not garbage specs. Don't let the dude saying 19 bar isn't good enough. While the machine is $100, the price of the capsules are expensive here in the US. I just got back from Sydney where my hotel had a machine in the room. The coffee is fantastic (yes this while also make a coffee), my wife didn't want such strong coffee that the hotel was giving. There was a local coffee (Vittoria) that I found for around 30 cents (US). Most capsules seem to run close to $1 a piece!

One thing this espresso machine is missing is a steamer wand for milk frothing.

Remember the price of the machine shouldn't even be considered if you don't like the price of the capsules!

That's kinda what I figured but I wanted to give him a chance to back up his claim. Seems even the $500 machines are only 15 bar, for the most part
