I try to buy digital whenever possible. That way my kids can play the same game on 2 different xboxs at the same time w/o having to buy the game twice. I wait for the games to go on sale & I use the xbox live gift cards that I get on sale. Example $50 GC for $40 at staples. CDKeys also has good deals on digital codes sometimes.

OP I would have led with Dark Souls 3 at $30 but Halo 5, Star Wars Battlefront, and Elder Scrolls Online are cool too Smilie

Why does anyone buy games from the Xbox Store?

Just looked last night and Battlefront is still $50. Titanfall is still $20 (if you can believe it). These are games that have been discounted time and time again in physical copies. This is a good price for Battlefront, not the first time it's been this cheap though.

Titanfall was $5 a couple weeks ago.

For me, it's simple - game sharing. But I still wait until the price is reasonable.

Very close on my price point for DS3. If BB would match I'd have it with GCU.

It cant come to that much of a surprise that games idle at near retail price. If that weren't the case then this site would be of little use.

I'm more aiming this at Microsoft, they need to wake up.

Battlefront is more than twice what it costs from this deal, and like I've said, this isn't the first time it's been this price. Same thing with Titanfall.

When you get a digital game you can't sell them or trade them in. For people that can share games it might make sense (though not in this case since they're less than half the price). I won't buy digital games unless they're steeply discounted for that reason. I hate that I can't dump them if I dont want to play them anymore.

What?
Microsoft sells games at that price, so does every other place that doesn't offer 24/7 market competitive prices on every single game they have (which is every single store if that's not clear). There isn't a point to complain about this, as an informed consumer yes it's absurd but it happens and it works for them.

The headset is the wrong price in the OP. It'll be $25 not $30.

Xbox store just finished their Summer Sale a day or two ago so everything is back to or close to MSRP. But during the sale I did see a lot of its title close to or better priced than some of the titles here. Like physical copies, digital sales do occurred. I think you just missed Xbox's sale.

No, I didn't miss it. Most of their game prices were a joke even during the summer sale.

Yeah that is the biggest down side, it would even be nice if they would just allow some kind of trade in credit, so you turn your licence back into the store, and they give you a credit for a percentage of what the games lowest sale price was on their store.

They could even charge a processing fee (keep it reasonably low, like less than 2.50 or %10 of the return value. But the agreement (unless mandated by some consumer oriented law) would be dependent on the publisher.

Tangent Warning: If they really wanted to pull one over on buyers (and kill the physical market for console games) they would implement a system like this that matched the physical used market, which would pull over many current holdouts, but when the physical market dried up they could shift the buyback amounts lower in their favor, at which point they face a much larger potential for consumer lawsuits. Currently they can just claim that digital resale is not possible or practical (since its not available on any major store or client (xb live, apple, google play, amazon, psn, steam none have the option, of course steam does allow you to share games in your library with family / friends), if they proved otherwise it would be a harder legal challenge to face off against.
