Just a heads up, you can get this projector refurbed for $400 usually.

Also, I had this projector for two months and only used it for 55 hours and there was a ton of dust that got in behind the projector lens ruining it. I had to return it to Acer for a full refund. Personally, I would avoid this projector or if you do get it, make sure you have a dust cover on it at all time.

I second this. Loved this projector for it's size, picture quality and value, but two months after the one year warranty expired I started to see dust in the image as well. Dissembling to clean is a pain and without a dust proof workspace the problem could be worsened even further. Sadly I've recommended this projector on SD a handful of times, but now that I know this is a common problem that Acer couldn't care less about, it can't be recommended any longer. Beware!

Acer support is terrible of course (absolutely no one will speak to you if have questions outside of warranty), and I can't even get a quote on a cleaning without paying to ship it to them in Texas first.

I concur. Even in warranty, they did not want to honor the warranty and repair the projector for me by cleaning it. They told me it couldn't be done at first, then I pressed the issue and they said they "guess" they could open up a repair ticket but they wouldn't promise anything, after no response from that, I filed a dispute with my credit card company and THEN they decided to help me out by refunding my money.

I won't be buying an Acer product againBig Grin

The projector is already OOS. Anyone who bought it via SD, just get that dust cover I linked, it is vital!

Oh god. Sounds like a giant f'ing pain in the ass is waiting for me once I finally send it in. If that's what they told you, I'm sure they'll tell me it either can't be done (sorry for wasting your time and cost of shipping!) or give me some sky high rediculous repair quote.

Well to be fair, I was dealing with Acer Recertified store on Ebay, and I think they are third party sellers of Acer refurbished goods so it may be different.

I didn't realize you had the projector still, I am sorry about that. Maybe get a dust cover if you get it repaired and cleaned.

Otherwise, see if you can get a refund.

Like you said, it is an awesome projector, but that dust completely ruins it and anything it can be.

Those ports are extremely limited on that Optoma though.

Am I missing something? Is this not the same projector on Amazon [amazon.com] for $560? Looks like it was $499 around the same time this was posted.
