Meh. Most 8 year old laptops will be better then this, except for weight, wireless and USB.

Yup. My Toshiba L455 (7 years old) with 4GB RAM and Pentium T4400 is better than that. Actually it's better than a lot of Chromebooks except for weight and power consumption.

Celeron N3050
Average CPU Mark 915

Pentium T4400

really need to make better netbooks.. even the baytrail processors pwn most n series except 3700.. which, surprise surprise is similarly priced to i3 chips... Intel the greedy bastards.. this is not the year for 1080p 60p streaming $100 netbooks..

I am thinking of buying these for the office. most of the time, people just need a laptop to get to email, show a powerpoint, take some notes on word, etc.. while those tasks are not as demanding, is the cpu and low ram going to make even those basic tasks frustratingly slow?

it's common knowledge that win os computers have lag with less than 4gb of ram... might find better upgradable laptops near the $200 mark

Should be considered more like a Chromebook.
2GB ram is not going to take you far and Wifi is a/b?

Would this be good enough to run basic Java and Python scripts for computer science classes? I'm looking for a lightweight Windows computer in this price range. Thanks.

I have a Asus x205-ta comes with atom z3735f, 2gb ram, 32gb hdd, which should be perform same as this one.

It's totally ok for email, office and web browsing. Some of the website have heavy scripts might react a bit slow when I swipe to scroll though.
