This is a pretty good deal. Their bikes are not top of the line but definitely better than the junk you'd get at Walmart for nearly the same price. They also have lifetime guarantee on their bikes.

Their tires are also pretty good and much cheaper than brand ones.

Nashbar and Sister company Performance have the most erratic dynamic pricing I've ever seen.

There are some great deals to be had, but you have to set a threshold. For example, it looks like they jacked tube prices just to mark them back down.

But this is a great time to grab some gear or parts for those bikes. A few colleagues at work bought a few set of tires while I was posting this. Smilie

Thanks. Several of their house brand bikes look like they'd work for me.

for those with spd pedals - look into getting Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals. it's a steel at this price with a discount and are by far my favorite cycling shoes. I ride to them to work and then walk around without much discomfort. I will probably get 2 more pairs to have as spare.

I own the Nashbar CR5 Road Bike [nashbar.com] and it is phenomenal. Full carbon fiber with an Ultegra groupset for $1,300 after discount. I only have about a thousand miles on it so far (only changes were I upgraded the brakes to Ultegra, got Ultegra clipless pedals, changed the tires to Continentals) and it is an absolute pleasure to ride.

sorry for asking this again and again. can anyone suggest a fitness bike for a beginner around $300-$400 on this site? I have no idea what I am looking for here.

The deals posted here for Nashbar are good. But for your situation I'd suggest going to Performance Bike, online or a local store, if you have one. Same company (I guess) but they have a bigger selection and the local presence will be beneficial for returns, adjustments, etc. Also, they've more "flat bar road bikes," which are more fitness/road oriented than "hybrids," but have a mostly upright posture and no drop bars. (after having drop bars for several years, I've realized they just aren't for me...and I assume others may be the same)

I didn't check the detailed components on this, but this seems like the direction you might want to go: http://www.performancebike.com/bi...16__400316
I'd spring for disc breaks, but they're by no means needed.

Though out of your price range, the Nashbar AL1 Road Bike receives stellar reviews. It sometimes will go on sale and be as cheap as 450$. Too bad it's not on sale right now, they usually run for $550.

I was just going to suggest the same thing. I think i paid $60 or so for my pair and they're on sale for 33.74 now. Great price on some good sandals.

Is their site getting hammered/not working right for anyone else?

These prices are the same for bikes that you will find at your local bike shop. They will often throw in free maintenence. Why not support a local business?

I am running into a bunch of missing pages -

"Whoa! Looks like you found an unmapped ride.
The page you are looking for is not here."
