WARNING: Just like the May deal, this only seems to work for a small amount of users. I received an email from Plex thanking me for how long I've been a customer

Plex Pass Lifetime Access 50% off = $74.99

I had to choose the 149 pricing on the first page to see the discounted price. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up, but this always seems to be directed towards accounts that are really old. My account is probably a couple years old and I've never seen this.

Thank you for sharing.

Personal gripe: When I was a new Plex user, I spent way too much time learning the differences between the Plex Pass, the one-time payment, and the free usage. It's mind-boggling that Plex still hasn't released a simple comparison table showing the differences between the three. At the end, I was annoyed enough that I decided not to pay for Plex because even when I contacted them, their support simply told me that I should get the Plex Pass without telling me why, other than it is the "best value."

It's quite simple now, really. Paid subscriptions have more benefits (all apps free, device sycning, trailers, etc). For the average person, free is fine. I pay to support them, get trailers, and sync to my iPad for when I travel. A google search will show you the difference within a couple minutes of reading.

Serviio and Universal Media Server are free. I don't know why people pay for this Plex. Waste of money.

PLEX works well. It's easy to setup, has a great feature set, keeps track of watched/unwatched/resuming from multiple devices. It's easy to share media and libraries with friends and families as well.

This won't work unless you get the email, so not even worth trying if you don't have that email.

Not for me again. I would gladly pay $75 for lifetime, but not sure I'd get much extra benefit since I use Emby more and that is a lot more feature rich. Oh well.

Do you mind sharing your experience with Emby? About to choose plex or emby and would like to hear your thoughts.

Full disclosure, I've purchased a PlexPass.

Serviio and UMS are about a year or more behind Plex. I like that there is a bit of competition as it pushes innovation, but Plex is easily the best streaming tool out there. It's not even close.

Plex supports streaming over the internet out of the box. You have to pay for that "luxury" on Serviio. Serviio requires you to buy a third-party app just like Plex to stream to devices.

Only UMS is actually 100% free, but relies on DLNA functionality or web.
