I am building a small(er) form factor gaming setup and have been eyeing a board like this for awhile.

I am not sure how good of a price this is given that its not the latest chipset but at 80 bux for z chipset and for those not willing to jump on skylake bandwagon its probably a good price.

please share your thought on my future midrange-ish or so gaming setup :
this board
core i7 4770k
H100i gtx
GTX 980 Ti - golden ed
corsair air 240
4 x 4 DDR3 2133 gskill

I've had all the parts for months except for this board, case and cooler which i just bought.
If anybody owns this board and cares to share some pros/cons i would highly appreciate it.

Can you return the gpu? If possible I would return it for gtx 1070 or 1080

It is OK for a micro ATX, but I don't think it has as good of voltage regulation for overclocking so it may max out before other boards.

I have the ATX sized gaming 5 and am happy with it.

you may get difficulties installing a video card with a backplate because of the ram slots

This motherboard has given me a multitude of problems with two builds. Sound/Grounding issues with the audio jacks led to static coming to speakers, sometimes system would not startup completely and I would have to force restart to boot in, sleep would refuse to work, top pcie slot stopped working so had to move GPU to second. I have not dealt with support yet as it sits as a raid server now with a g3258 so I have that going for me.

Do yourself a favor, pay a little more for a better motherboard. I got this for $100 at microcenter and completely regret it for my friends and I.

I'm thinking PEBKAC. I've had this board for two years now and it has been one of the most feature filled and reliable boards I have ever used. Previously was a die-hard Asus buyer but went with this one as it had better features than any of the Asus mATX boards. I was reluctant but my worries were unfounded.

This is a very solid, reliable motherboard. Nothing has broken on it, startup/shutdown/sleep all work as they should. Buy one with confidence!

For what it's worth, I have this, a few SSDs, i5-4690k, and a R9-295, and it pretty much murders anything in its way. Generally dead silent, and hands down, the best lil' gaming rig I built to this day.

edit: RE: RAM - Just don't get the stupid brands with the tall and gigantic heat spreaders. Although, that could generally go for most applications as well.

This thing has almost as many 1 and 2 egg ratings as it has 4 and 5 egg ratings...

I usually take a handful of negative reviews with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't risk this for half the price... I mean, out of 85 reviews, 33 of them are 1 or 2 eggs...

My Microcenter has been good taking bad items back. I bought an LG 3D tv from them and it was bad out of the box. They replaced it with another.
