Yes, you really do need these speakers! Seriously, you can rock the tower speakers at a great price.

Nothing says my home theater is better than yours than these imposing tower speakers that fill the room with impressive sound and look good doing it. Best of all, your family and friends will never know you paid a fraction of the price of comparable speakers. By the way, these speakers are a one-time Monoprice purchase and when they're gone, they're gone forever.

So go ahead, rock the tower speakers like a boss!

These 2-way tower speakers feature two 5.25-inch mid-bass polypropelene drivers with rubber surround and Kapton voice coil former, which allows it to move twice the amount of air of speakers with only a single mid-bass driver. The polypropylene cones allow for greater power handling capability, up to 85 watts per channel RMS (170 watts peak). The tweeter is made using a 1" silk dome and is positioned at ear level when seated in your listening position.

The speakers feature a 65Hz ~ 20kHz (?3dB) frequency response range and an 88dB sensitivity. They are rated for 8-ohms nominal impedance and feature 5-way binding post connections.

Features:

Tower design places drivers at ear level
Silk dome tweeter design
Polypropylene mid-bass speaker cones for greater power-handling capacity
Two mid-bass drivers for enhanced mid-bass response

I almost want to buy these just to use as speaker stands for my bookshelf. They are the perfect height and cost the same/less than a lot of decent stands.

I already have their 5.1 speaker setup connected to a 5.1 Yamaha receiver. Can I simply replace my two front speakers with these two tower speakers?
