This looks like just the thing I was looking for. And just in time for the due date I set for myself, July 17th, so that the computer parts could arrive by July 29th, in time for the Windows 10 free upgrade deadline.

I've been wanting to get a board that doesn't support SLI for the longest time, since I knew from the start that I wanted to have a single-card Nvidia GPU setup. But, it seems that a lot of the motherboards that are more expensive are also more well-built and have higher stability and overclocking potential, and most of those boards support Quad-SLI or four-way crossfire.

If the build quality and reliability of this motherboard seem good enough, I'll probably purchase it. Otherwise, I might wait for something more high-end like the ASRock OC Z170 Formula motherboard that was on sale a while back. I'll probably never use SLI even though that motherboard supports quad-SLI, but at least it claimed to have a max over clock of 6998.9 MHz, which is pretty impressive.

This motherboard doesn't have an HDMI port, but that doesn't bug me. I'll just use the VGA port on my old monitor to hook it up (since the DVI's already in use) and wait until I get a 6GB GTX 1060 (once it releases and the prices drop) if I need to use a HDMI display, since the GTX 1060 has a HDMI port.

Here's another option for about $8 more that has SLI, and a better NIC (LAN) and sound chip. This other board has no integrated video outputs though, so you'd need a separate video card (IGP alone won't work).

7ghz is ln cooled, doesn't apply here at all. if you don't want sli you can get ANY board with 1or more pcie x16. So itx, matx, atx, or eatx all perform the same if you don't sli. memory, ssd speed, and cpu speed matter much more than unused slots. pick whichever suits your tastes though b/c you'll have to look at it more than once. ;p

So this is what slickdeals has come to. Someone just says something is going to happen with no proof or any other information other than pictures and a link and we just shower them with thumbs up? I just chatted with a newegg rep who said there is no indication this deal exists.

The real trick is going to be if he's right and no one can figure out how he knew about it.

True story, I guess I am just upset cause I have 2 kids that are going to be up early and if I am going to stay up for a deal like this it would be nice to know if it was real before I sacrifice that sleep. Oh well..
