Upgrade Win 10 on 2 drives on same machine?

repitall 2,154 543 July 16, 2016 at 05:24 PM
I have asked this in another thread and no one really knows so i thought I would try again.

I have a dual boot machine with an OEM license for Win 7 on one drive and also an already upgraded drive from a retail Win 8.1 to Win 10 on another drive.

Can I upgrade to Win 10 on the Win 7 drive with the intent to rollback to Win 7 to preserve the upgrade?

I am trying to understand if the same machine hash can be for 2 upgrades on the same machine?

I don't think it would care, having 2 copies of win 7 with the same key on the same machine may be an issue,

It should be fine. The Windows 10 update is based on the system hardware(motherboard and processor) so different hard drives shouldn't matter. Worst case scenario, if it's giving you issues on the install, take the other drive out during install.

Hmm... Yea. I think it's based on the mobo and not the previous install.
I don't think you'll get two win 10 licenses.

I think your probably fine, however I would not rely on the "rollback" feature. It's not that reliable. Instead take an image of the drive first and use that to roll back.
