I have an Amex Platinum

I received an email on July 14:

You've been selected! You now have payment options and can earn 10,000 Membership Reward Points!

All I had to do was click and done. It allows me to pay 20% interest instead of paying off my balance each month... Yay!

Today, my 10k points showed up.

As has been posted. If you receive this offer just call the number on the back of your card so an Amex Plat rep can get commission. They very much appreciate it.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Can you remove this option after you received your bonus points. What if you pay your total balance after you enrolled

I did not participate in using the extended payment plan, only enrolled for the option. Only enrolling was needed to get the 10k points, I did not need to use the payment option.

You can still pay off your balances each month! I signed up a few days ago and per the t/c's you don't have to roll over any balance.

Not everyone with an American Express® Card qualifies for the same features. You are invited to enroll in the Extended Payment Option, which gives you the flexibility to carry a balance or pay in full each month.

If you are approved, you could get 10,000 Membership Rewards® points.

FlexibilityYou can decide to pay over time with interest on eligible purchases of $100 or more.1 The APR will be a variable rate, currently 18.49% (the rate assigned will be the same as the current rate for your Select & Pay Later feature). If you have enrolled in a Pay Over Time promotional APR offer, the terms disclosed to you with that offer apply. You maintain the option to pay your balance in full each month.

No Enrollment Fee There is no fee to enroll and you will continue to enjoy all of the benefits of your Card.

Enrollment Bonus10,000 Membership Rewards points if approved by August 15, 2016.2

Whether you're booking a vacation, furnishing a new home or paying for something unexpected, the Extended Payment Option gives you the choice of payment flexibility.

Why not take advantage of this opportunity?

Enroll Now Offer expires August 15, 2016.

Or call 1-866-280-4438 and mention Offer Code: CAYJ:0005.

I enrolled for it, but later found that approval is by 15th August and points will be credited in 6-8 weeks. I have to change the change to something without annual fees by the end of this month. Just an FYI if you are in a similar situation.

No, they do not.
From their terms, "Requests to pay over time are approved based on several factors including account history, current account status and credit record at time of request."
is this not the same as credit check? Thanks.
