Whirlpool WDT780SAEM Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub

Make sure dishes come out clean. The soil sensor determines load size and how dirty dishes to adapt setting through wash cycle for customized cleaning. This energy-efficient dishwasher is ENERGY STAR® qualified and holds 14 place settings. It cleans quietly at 48 dBA and remembers your last cycle so you don't have to. Plus, it cleans a lightly soiled load in half the time with the 1-Hour wash cycle, so you have clean dishes when you're in a hurry. It's all from the brand that can say no one has fewer repairs 19 years in a row.

Sensor Cycle - Get perfect cleaning every time with the Sensor cycle. The soil sensor measures load size and soil level during the prewash, and the dishwasher adjusts to the right wash and dry settings throughout the wash cycle to deliver precise cleaning to your dishes.

In-door Silverware Basket - The in-door silverware basket frees up rack space by easily fitting on the front of the lower rack or in the door to make room for more dishes.

Adjustable Upper Rack - The adjustable upper rack smoothly adjusts two inches up or down to fit larger items in either rack.

Features:

1-Hour Wash Cycle - The 1-Hour Wash option will get dishes clean in about half the time.

I have this exact one and I do like it HOWEVER I'm not completely sold on it. It's claim of 48db seems way off, I think it's just as loud as my old cheap ten year old one. What makes it "quiet" is that it catches the excessive food that washes off the dishes in a filter on the bottom.... Which you have to remember to empty. Doing this avoids grinding it up like a traditional washer and makes it quieter.

Other issue is it doesn't dry the dishes 100%, always has water in the bottom and I believe that prevents completely drying and also creates a slight smell of its closes for over a day, a call to whirlpool confirmed this is normal having water in the Bottom

We used to have this issue. It ended up being build up in the lines to the drain under the bottom agitator. The agitator and brackets should remove by hand. Check the drain with your fingers and see if you feel anything. If not, pour some drano into the base of the washer, wait about an hour, then run a quick rinse cycle.

I really wouldn't call these super easy to install.

Yikes, that one costs $219 to install and $40 to haul away the old one. If you take care of those things yourself, no problem. If you aren't, that seems a lot.

Good luck with getting stuff on time. I have tried them once and my date kept on shifting for in stock items.

I love the 2 yr warrantly, although I thought better brands come with 3 yr warranty.
Is there anyway to add more years like PC Richards does? I always get their 7 yr warranty for about $100 or $120, pays itself with one service call. I with this option was there, and usually warranty doesn't cover simple service calls, it's a pain to deal with warranty as opposed to extended service contracts where no questions asked, no limitations.

I've been using my IKEA Whirlpool has been rocking for 8 years, we love it, although it's loud. The main problem with that is the racks rusted a lot, I used the rust paint from Amazon whatever is called, it made no difference, that rust paint is supposed to withstand the heat in dishwasher, no good, washed away after few washes. It still washes very well, so I was hoping I could replace the racks, but it's a no go since this is an old model.

Does anyone have links to comparable models? I like the idea of $500 for everything.
The alternative is the Samsung unit at HD for $350 + delivery/haul/install.

Sorry it's blurry.

I'd love to get something a lot quieter than what I got, and also with better features/faster wash, if I am paying so much. Suggestions are welcome!

PS: Since costco doesn't accept AmEx anymore, no more 1 yr additional war

I am thinking about this too, but per fine print, this does not include uninstalling of old dishwasher.
