Best Buy and Amazon have the Sony XBR55X810C down to $849. Previous price was $898. Both have free shipping (with Amazon Prime).

3 left for 820

I ended up pulling the trigger on this. Seems like a decent price on 4k and 120 refresh rate. Also no tax for me, which has killed so many deals.

I got this exact TV for $800 from HHGregg on Friday with their 11% off coupon. So far, I'm very impressed - I actually think it looks better than my brother's 50" Samsung JU7100 (blacks are deeper for sure) - but was disappointed to find that it doesn't come with the touchpad remote as I expected. I installed the sideview iPhone remote app, which works pretty well. the firmware update took about 45 minutes, so prepare for that.

I went to a Best Buy to compare the x810c next to a x850d. I fully intended on purchasing the 810c, but the demo they had setup next to the 850d made me rethink things. The 850d had much much better viewing angles and slightly better color while running the demo video. The demo was likely biased towards the more expensive model...

If I'm not mistaken, the 850D has a 10bit panel (HDR), so the colors should look better on it than the 810. From what I've read, however, the 810 has better contrast ratio - among the best - and better overall color accuracy than the 850. The 810 also has direct back lighting, while the 850 is edge-lit (direct is typically better). Another reason you might have thought the 850 looked better, color-wise, is the fact that it has an IPS panel, which means that from an angle, it's colors remain more consistent. The 810 has a VA panel, so has deeper blacks but worse off-axis color.

The 850 is a little brighter, has HDR and the wider viewing angle.

So unless HDR is a must have, the room is brightly-lit, or you frequently sit to the sides of the TV, go for the 810. Side by side, I think I'd choose the 810 over the 850. Now, if the 850 had full-array zoned backlighting, it may be another story, but that's probably the only thing that would make me switch.

Been waiting for the 55in for a while and the no tax is fantastic. Usually I'd get about 9% tax so I convinced myself the TV was on sale for $746.

Anyways in case anyone wants to know its one of rtings (website I've been using for the past 2 months to find TVs, they do very rigorous tests with explanations for all of them) "Best TV for the Price Range ($750 - $1000)."

Here's the link to the review if interested to see what you're getting:

The review is a 7.6, but just a heads up this is a pretty good score because they're pretty critical about there TVs. Luckily the lowest score is sound which brings the overall score down, but that can easily be fixed with a decent sound bar/speaker set.

Yeah, if it's tax-free for you, this is an AWESOME deal. I honestly can't see this TV going for a lower price. I think this is the liquidation price - I'm pretty sure the 810 has been discontinued.

I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for the next 28 days, just in case I see a JU7500 or better Samsung for the same price, but I doubt I will...

I bought this instead of the $650 49" 60hz model I was eyeing from Best Buy. The extra size and 120hz is well worth the extra money, especially with the 5% Amazon cash back from Discover. Wish I would've gotten the $820 but maybe it will drop elsewhere in the next 30 days and I can price match.

Thanks!

It's a really good score since 20% of the score is based on sound and hardly any flat-screen TV has good sound at all. If you ignore that rating, this is one of the best non-HDR TVS you can buy.
