Been waiting for the price drop to attach to this rebate.

Edit: it's worth noting that you have to use an affiliate link to get the reduced price. The basic link is

[adorama dot com]/macr5btpair.html
will come up as $249.99 if you just do a search on Adorama.

You need to add to the URL to make it / macr5btpair.html?emailprice=t link to get the price.

Slickdeals will automatically add these in the link above, but should you be entering Adorama through another affiliate portal, adding the address pathe above right before "&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_source=rflaidXXXXX" for the affiliate keeps the price at $199.99 for any affiliate.

I've got some old busted creative labs bluetooth speaker thing that we use for music. It's one of those portable speakers that you can add a bunch of AA batteries to so you can listen outside or whatever. Now that we subscribe to google play music we find that we're listening to a lot more music and I'm wondering if this is a worthy upgrade to provide better sound in our family room/kitchen. Is 50 watts strong enough for a largish room that flows in to another room?

Anyone know if you can turn bluetooth on and off for these?

Or is it just always on?

The power is enough, but these aren't really that kind of speaker. It's very likely that in an open environment these may sound flat and lifeless. Of course, they're meant to sound like that - they're tuned to provide as flat a response as possible (given the physical size restrictions) so that they don't provide any pop or wow to the music that isn't in the track you're listening to.

I'm setting them up at my desk for use with my small home studio because I record vocals for two ensembles. I like to hear exactly what the track sounds like and I'm tired of always having headphones on while I'm tracking people in the booth.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was afraid of. To get the sound I'm looking for, I'd probably need to plunk down cash on a receiver/speaker/subwoofer combo. ugh.

It would be cheaper to get good bookshelf speakers and a cheap amp for them than this deal and you'd get better sound as well.

Theses speakers sound really good but, they are tailored more for near field studio purposes. I have a pair of these I use for djing for me to hear the mix not for the croud.

Sure. Pioneer SP-BS22-LRs and an SMSL 36A amp would be good choices for $150.
