I purchased this TV from the Sunday Fry's deal about a week ago and am actually returning it tonight. While the still picture quality is great, the motion and any other sort of movement are absolute garbage. Save your money, don't buy this TV.

fml, i bought this from Dell and it's one day away from arriving. Dell has a 15% restocking fee so that's gonna suck alot...

I talked with LG customer service and here's what went down:

Quote :
Michael: Hello ME. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
ME: Hello! I just had some questions about the 65UH5500
Michael: Hi *****! greetings and good afternoon to you
Michael: Sure whats your question
ME: Where can I see a full list of its specs?
Michael: Actually this unit is manufactured limitedly since it was originally an ODM TV, if you wanted to get a similar TV, I would recommend 65UH6100 instead
ME: Sorry, I am unfamiliar with ODM, could you please explain that for me
Michael: Sure, ODM stands for Original design manufacture. Its a product as specified and eventually rebranded by another firm for sale. technically, LG designs and make the tv and sell it for another company to be rebranded
ME: Oh okay, but I recently just ordered the 65UH5500 from Dell.com
ME: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sn...u=A8943952
Michael: Cool! looks like dell sells the tv
ME: So it's not rebranded in this case?
Michael: Alright if you wanted to get more information for the specs, look for the specification of the UH6100
ME: The UH6100 shows 120hz TruMotion
ME: Will this be in the UH5500?
Michael: it will be the same tv
Michael: Yes, the Uh6100 has the trumotion feature, which is missing in the UH5500, so refresh rate for the UH5500 is limted to 60hz
ME: The UH6100 also shows "True Black Panel"
ME: Okay, so it isn't the same TV
Michael: Hold on let me check this out to be sure.
ME: Thanks
Michael: Alright, thank you for waiting, yes this TV is almost a similar TV, the only feature that is missing for the UH5500 is the trublack panel feature and the trumotion. the UH6100 is an upgraded TV. but if you are not looking for those feature it might save you a little bit of money going for the UH5500
ME: Oh bummer
ME: There isn't a 65UH6100, so that's not an option
ME: is True Black Panel the same as "local dimming"
Michael: I see, hmmm how about the UH6150?
Michael: Actually no, the tru black panel is a feature for the TV. its a coating in the panel to achieve true black, so that when you view a black picture, you will see a deep black
ME: Okay that makes sense.
ME: Does the UH5500 have local dimming?
Michael: let me double check
ME: Also, will the full specs for UH5500 ever be listed on the LG website?
ME: Thank you for answer my tedious questions by the way
Michael: Not a problem ***** im happy to help you clarify this informations for you. give me a moment please
Michael: The UH5500, doesn't have local dimming
ME: Where are you checking to find this information?
ME: I've been looking everywhere haha.
Michael: Haha! we have an internal spec sheet provided by the engineers. Smilie
ME: Is it possible to send me that?
ME: Or it's confidential
Michael: its for internal use, *****. we are not allowed to send it, Sorry about that
ME: No problem
Michael: Just tell me everything you wanted to know so I can give you the information you need
ME: Thanks, give me one second to check
Michael: Sure~ not a problem
ME: Actually that might be all the questions I have right now
ME: Thank you
Michael: Its a pleasure
TLDR;
  • It's a limited manufactured ODM TV
  • No local dimming regardless of HDR Pro
  • Strictly 60hz no TruMotion, no True Black Panel

Had my 65UH5500 for 1 day before it went on the fritz. Constantly reboots. Already being exchanged. Hopefully I just got a dud.

Just an FYI...I purchased the 65UH6150 from Dell and it's not all that great. You can see banding on a white screen and only supports HDR Pro (HRD10). Reviewing Rtings.com for info on other LG TVs, it seems only OLED are the ones to purchase and the rest you can skip.
