My god these things are expensive. This is a deal?

This is the same model a lot of my coworkers have and it is great. I ain't about to shell out $400 for a standing desk though. My employer won't buy me one :'(

Exactly lol. I rather just keep 2 boxes around to sit my screen on when I want to stand and save $400

I have been using the Varidesk for about 2 years now. It is the best solution for those cubicle dwellers where a full replacement desk is not an option. It still functions like new and no signs of wear on any of the surfaces or lift mechanism. Going from sitting to standing and back takes about 15 seconds or so; much quicker than those that require turning a little knob or even those driven by electric motors.

All that said, I bought one when they were only like $200 when they first came out. I think it is worth $370, but I sure would have given it a lot more thought at that price point.

While not adjustable, I followed these instructions and built one for <$30 out of two Ikea end tables. I stand 2/3 of my day and it's great. Highly recommend getting out of chair as much as possible.

Agree to this point! That's quite an expensive price for an "add-on" to your existing desk. Sorry, OP, TD.

A full desk replacement may not be an option for some people, especially those who work in a cubicle at an office.

I had a Varidesk and I was very satisfied with it. Much more so than the Ergotron I had a while back.

The cool thing about the Vari though is how fast it goes up and down. They say its best to go from sit to stand throughout the day. The cheap option from Ikea is a manual gear you have to crank up and down, I think that would become tiresome throughout the day. The DIY option also doesn't work for this reason unless you work from a laptop.

My work gave me a one time $500 home office stipend, so I looked into getting something that would turn my current Legare corner desk into one with a standing option. Getting a new standing desk wasn't an option, I needed something that would fit in a desktop. I ended up buying the 36" Varidesk for corner cubicles. It was the only one I could find that fit in my allotted space AND had a serious amount of surface area for my dual monitor, my 15" mac, a mechanical keyboard, USB hub, etc.

It takes me 5 seconds to go from standing to sitting and vice versa. It's solidly built and I can see it lasting a LONG time. Would I have spent my own money on it? Probably not initially since I had no experience with Varidesk. Now that I'm using it, I would consider it a sound investment in one's health for someone working from home.

I'd much rather give the Autonomous Desk a try. How does it compare with the similar motorized model from IKEA? My office uses the IKEA ones and they're pretty decent (in my opinion).
