X-Star Premium with two batteries + a 3rd after MIR from Autel. Frank at Carolina Dronz is an authorized dealer (for rebate purposes) and very great to work with.

The X-Star Premium was just released to public and retails $899. Batteries retail ~$119 a piece. This deal essentially saves you $210 woot

RTF kit comes with UAV, 4k camera & gimbal, transmitter, charger, 64GB microSD card, hard case, lanyard, extra props, and some other spare parts. Speaking from first hand experience, the XSP has been a joy to fly and Autel's customer service is unbeatable. They've been shipping out replacements 2nd day if any problems come up.

On a side note, it's been a great year for UAVs, with DJI's new phantom and Yuneec's new offering as well.

Edit:
$899 + FS at B&H if/when it comes back in stock.
Will include free bundled battery (#2) + rebate battery (#3). The bonus battery is 2-4 weeks out on shipping and B&H won't ship until everything is in stock; this may potentially mess up the 3rd battery rebate.

Having owned a Phantom 2 and 3 Pro, I wonder if there's any real competition out there? I'm intrigued by this one, but is anything out there better overall than the Phantom 3/4 in the price range? Now, if DJI would remove the damn software limits on range, I think it'd be tough to beat them at all.

Well if you price out a DJI 3Pro (on deal) with three batteries and a proper case, you're in the same ballpart as XSP. Without price as a comparison point, it then comes down to quality, performance, and support. Multiple friends of mine have DJIs and have all run into the rotor arm cracks and 2-3 month warranty turnaround after an uphill battle to even get the warranty honored. If you follow the Autel owners group on facebook, other owners who currently fly multiple generations of DJI in addition to the Autel have favorably noted that they now prefer the Autel.

I find the 3Pro to be an enjoyable experience when I've flown my friend's UAVs, but having now gone through a Autel warranty exchange process I wouldn't purchase a DJI anymore.

I have a hobbyist interest in drones and usually have the 2-3 big players that sell $1000 drones and then the rest of them which are much cheaper and meant as toys. Has anyone heard of Autel Robotics? I've never heard of them so imagine how surprised I was at the $900 pricepoint.

gaaah I really want to upgrade from CX-20 to something better but its hard to drop over $800 on something you're not sure of. especially when there's other brands/models and mixed reviews...

YouTube reviews of this drone look great. I can't wait to get mine. My buddy has a 3DR Solo & GoPro, and his setup was close to $2,000. I feel like I have a very similar drone for 1/3 of the price.

Reviews on the Autel have been mostly extremely positive [bhphotovideo.com]. In fact, it's currently out of stock at B&H!

That was the (very well priced) prime day lightning deal that unfortunately didn't last very long. It would have work out with three batteries to be marginally cheaper (~$910), but this promo will run for 3+ more weeks.

Autel Robotics has been testing the X Star for at least two years now in order to launch with a solid product. They were a very big hit at CES 2016. Lots of coverage on Autel in RCGroups.com and the facebook owners group [facebook.com] is worth checking out.

Did the $674 price include ANY extra batteries?

It was just a bare RTF kit with one battery in total.

I believe it was 2 batteries total, so yes, 1 extra battery. The deal actually lasted all day. B&H honored the deal til midnight.

I thought it was only one battery. Looking back at the B&H and Amazon posts @ Autel Owner's Group, nobody mentioned the second battery... I already had a XSP from launch and couldn't justify a second UAV. A second with extra battery on the other hand would have tipped me over since I'm working my way towards getting more batteries and chargers anyway.

I could be wrong. Probably am. I just knew it was a great deal and ordered. Still waiting for it to be shipped. One of my reasons for getting this drone is the batteries are cheaper (at least compared to the Solo). I really liked the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, but I missed the Amazon deal on that one.
