This can be combined with Amex Offers for $50 off when you spend $$$. Not sure why this is not a more thumbs up, a i7-6700hq with a NVMe and 1080p screen.

I returned one of these yesterday. The finish around the keyboard is a metallic woodgrain, and it is generally kind of cheesy looking. Looking at the service manual, the laptop is very difficult to disassemble if you want to even add a second hard drive or upgrade the memory yourself. Mine also had scuffs and blue ink spots on the bottom, but that may be an isolated incident. Overall, it's a good deal for the specs, but it's not without its quirks.

Also, sales tax... there's real value in finding a vendor for your state that doesn't charge tax, and hp.com certainly does...

No. GDDR is the video memory. It is separate of the system RAM.

This is a Walmart-quality chasis (they literally sell them at Walmart). So don't expect anything more

anything better with the same specs would be their more expensive premium line?

I just bought a new Dell Outlet Inspiron 15 - 7559 for $498 from Dell outlet for my son going to college. I just got on chat and told them what I was looking for and they suggested that model and gave me 35% off (5% extra for my trouble). I am not sure it is a good deal but it seems to be. I am willing to spend more to get him a good computer. Is this HP better? I am not a computer expert far from it so I appreciate your help. Below are the stats of the Dell 7559.

8GB (1x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3L Memory
Intel 3165 1x1 802.11ac Wi-Fi Wireless LAN and Bluetooth
Processor: Intel Core 6th Generation i7-6700HQ Processor (Quad Core, up to 3.50 GHz, 6M Cache, 45W)
15.6inch FHD (1920 x 1080)
Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display
1 TB SATA Hybrid Hard Drive (5400 RPM) with 8GB Cache
Internal English Single Pointing Backlit Keyboard
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
Integrated Webcam

Sure... The ENVY, but I'm not sure HP has any with these exact specs
There are other brands with similar specs for cheaper. I would get the Dell gaming laptop over this even though it's thicker. This is just a $300 walmart laptop with primo components thrown at it

No, it is new. They said I could add RAM up to 16 gb but I really don't know how to do that but my son probably would. Is there something else that anyone has seen that is better. I want to give my son a nice present to start college. I don't want to disappoint him.

Would you mind providing a link to a cheaper Dell with all these features ? (Including SSD)
