Houston TX Area - Costco gas stations do not require membership card

Just went to Sugar Land TX Costco to fill up gas, noticed you can just swipe Visa card and fill up, doesn't require swipe of Costco membership card.

Confirmed with the attendant, it's a glitch in the system in the Houston and surrounding area. They will fix it but don't know when.

YMMV in other cities.

So you risk waiting in a 20 minute line and being humiliated once you find out you need your Costco card all to save $0.05?

I'm a member, but before I was I always used their Gas Stations with just a debit card and nobody ever asked for Membership card in my experience. You do have to get out of your car though and enter PIN.

Certain states don't allow gas stations to be behind a membership thing. NJ is one of them. They almost must sell liquor to nonmembers, depending on state laws too.

What about asking someone for a card. You can use costco giftcard at pump without membership .

You must be an Oregonian... or you have a robot car that pumps its own gas.

Are you still not allowed to pump your own gas in NJ?

SoCal stores, or At least those in Orange County and near always have CHEAPER ARCO or other stations in their area, so to me them selling gas is pointless.

I did not mention pump. I meant it's not only for members.

Are you factoring in 4% cashback + the cost of Arco's fees? Also I call BS on your original premise. I'm in the same area rarely is Arco cheaper than Costco.

Yea, I live in the OC also, and Costco is always the cheapest gas in the area. Even cheaper than Arco, plus Arco gas is crap, so Costco is a much better deal.
