As the engineer that made this controller I highly recommend it.

The significant number of 1 star reviews is because when this controller initially shipped it didn't pair with the FireTV Stick. It originally shipped with the 2nd generation FireTV Box. Customers had to wait for a software update on their stick to pair it. Understandable, but all those issues have been resolved since.

What is the difference between amazon TV and the game version? Just the controller?

Yes, in that you get the normal remote withe the Fire TV and you get the game controller with the gaming edition. You don't get the normal remote with the gaming edition.

There is a very large proportion of 1-star reviews here...

I picked up a gaming edition on Prime Day and I'm thinking of sending it back. It was $109.99 and I never read the fine print about the lack of a voice remote. In retrospect, I definitely don't think it's worth $40 more for a $10 32GB microSD card, 2 free games, and the remote/controller swap. Much easier to just add this $37 game controller to one of my existing Fire TVs.

I downloaded a game on my fire tv and tried playing it with the remote, my thumbs were numb in two minutes.

Just get a regular bluetooth controller... In my opinion it works just as good if not better.

I have the original Amazon Fire Controller and it is my favorite bluetooth controller. I have the Nvidia one, the Mad Catz C.T.R.L. and some generic Nyko one and the Amazon Fire Controller is better all around.

Anyone try this with emulators? I gave the PS4 controller a shot but unless I hooked it up wired, the lag was really annoying, even getting a secondary android bluetooth app (which caused it to disconnect all the time).

http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-fi...oday-only/ I have both gen FTV and the 1st gen gamepad. Great little gaming box for casual users. I got my refurb gamepad for $19 last year. Need to pair it with my new FTV2.

Hrmm, I got the gaming edition and I press the voice button on the controller and it works great!
