This is the cheapest I have seen for a two pack of 4TB WD Red drives

2x WD Red 4TB NAS Hard Drive 3.5 Inch 5400RPM 64MB - WD40EFRX

$25 off $200 with PayPal coupon code PP2016BTS

$279.98 - $25.00 = 254.98

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6822236599

These are newer 4TB Red drives that feature Nasware 3.0

The following excerpt was taken from anandtech.com
"The updated firmware (NASware 3.0) puts in some features related to vibration compensation, which allows the Red drives to now be used in 1 - 8 bay desktop NAS systems (earlier versions were officially sanctioned only for 1 - 5 bay units). NASware 3.0 also has some new features to help with data integrity protection in case of power loss. The units with NASware 2.0 can't be upgraded to NASware 3.0 (since NASware 3.0 requires some recalibration of internal components that can only be done in the factory)."

Pretty good deal. I just picked up the HGST 2x 4TB NAS deal a few weeks ago. But the HGST's are 7200rpm opposed to the WD Red's 5400rpm. I know back in the day the Red's used to be 7200rpm but not anymore I guess? Still a good deal, thanks op!

red pro are 7200rpm, but these are regular Red drives with 5400rpm and use considerably less power at idle and load than 7200rpm, and they are suitable for home or small office nas

Red pro came out a year or so after Red drives, and are still available

Thanks, was trying to work a 2-pack WD Red deal of 3TB+ yesterday with the code but it was still to expensive so I grabbed this now that it's a Shell Shocker deal and it stacked with the PP coupon.
