The new version of the PlayStation 4 will launch on October 13, according to a report from Entertainment.ie. The retail price given by Amazon was apparently 400 euros, which is roughly equivalent to $450 — however, the standard console launched at 400 euros in Europe, and was still priced at $400 for its North American release.

I believe the PS4 listing was for the PS4 + VR - which releases October 13th. I doubt that Sony would drop the VR they've been hyping for the last year and the neo on the same day.

I thought the VR was $300 alone?

It is.

Edit. It's 400, not 300. So more.

I don't doubt it. The kind of early adopters (like me) who want VR are also the kind of early adopters who'd buy the Neo.

It's not, it's $400 for the core set, $500 with the works.

Not sure this was verified or not I remember hearing this was just a VR bundle with the camera and no console.

Hoping the PS4 Neo comes with an ultra 4k bluray player built in. I think the new One S can only stream 4k videos?

From the Xbox website: "Stream 4k content on Netflix and Amazon Video and watch Ultra HD Blu-ray movies in stunning visual fidelity with High Dynamic Range."

The articles I was reading before made mention of only the streaming 4k. I might finally pick one up for $300 if it includes the ultra 4k bluray
Thanks

thee xbox one S is capable of both streaming and playing back UHD and HDR videos. The only restriction is that it cannot do so with games. No confirmation yet on the capabilities of the Neo but it should match the one S at the least.

I may try to roll the dice and try to resell one if there are any positive clues to its scarcity relative to the holidays.

The Xbox one S will have no performance gains. It's just a slim with Blu-ray 4k support. The PS4 Neo will be a full upgrade from 2 tflops to 6 tflops. Xbox talked about a new Xbox project Scorpio but that's not going to release until late 2017. Basically ohhh crap scramble throw something together Sony got us again,, lol

The current PS4 has the power of a GTX660. The Neo is like a GTX980. It's going to be awesome while Xbox One S will be left back at 1.2tflops.. Terrible

So is there really any benefit? Movies filmed in 1080p then up converted with video editing software to 4k. Or play a 1080p Blu-ray on a 4k tv and let the video processors up convert. Either way we have a bottle neck that seems pointless at the moment. Kinda like when HD first came out and people would play a DVD on a crappie so called hd screen. laugh out loud

Until Xbox Scorpio comes out in 2017, which will spank PS4K...
