Is there any reason why someone wouldn't want a full suspension bike with disc brakes?

Are cheap disc brakes worse than good caliper brakes?

it was here and then they took away the discount for some reason

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-l...e_name=all

I guess half off list price was too good to pass up for some

yes.... a hard tail aka no suspension in the rear would be lighter and also more of your pushing on omthe pedal would go directly to that back wheel moving...... not in the suspension moving..... if you are on strictly road or even flat hard packed dirt hardtail is the way to go....also hard is simpler in design some of that is my opinion.

brakes.....i have an older bike about 10,yo but have shimano deore xt parallel push brakes which i put on after removing the hayes disc brakes......just get a good quality brake unless you are a "serious rider" ....if you are you probably already know what you want....

I'll just throw in my opinion. I went from standard rim brakes to hydraulic shimano disks, and I was astonished at the difference. So much smoother and zero fade. Just figured I'd throw that out there.

Suspension bikes at this range would severly downgrade the quality of the bike. If it were a full suspension bike at this price the rear suspension wouldn't be good anyways and it would be added weight. Additionally they would have to cut back on the quality on other parts thus leading to a bike of subpar quality. Lastly, most people don't actually need a full suspension since they'll probably be using this bike for mor general use rather than actual mountain biking.

Gonna piggy back on this, had a loaner Trek with disk brakes at a resort I stayed at and omg, what a difference. 10/10 would recommend disc brakes if within price range

Im considering the sorrento xl im 6'4 300#. This will be the first bike ive ever purchased. Will this bike be a good fit for me mostly going for comfort on paved roads and sometimes some gravel trails. I dont know how i feel about a hardtail but i have a nice cushioned seat i would like to put on it if the hardtail is to uncomfortable. I just happened to have been looking at diamondback bikes at mc sports right before i seen this deal so its almost like i have to purchase it.

Yeah, but any rim brake sucks off road, get it wet or even worse muddy and it's horrible. I'd leave it. Full suspension climbs OK, I have both hard tails and full suspension and there isn't a huge difference in climbing hills. There is a HUGE difference in running over rocks and roots though. Hard tails beat the heck out of you.

Yeah, but come on, that brake set ia as much as this whole bike. I have a hard tail with shimano hydraulic brakes and it is amazing. But still it's silly at this price level.

This is the cheapest mountain bike I've seen that isn't a BSO (bike-shaped-object).

Disk brakes have calipers. The brakes you're referring to, do not have calipers.
