Just purchased. Was a little concerned due to the many steps I had to go through to verify my account (email a code and then they called me with another one.) but in the end I got DS2 for $12.

My two cents on the game it will piss you off like no other game (feel like its the worst dark souls game ). The devs thought adding more enemies was the way to make it harder. Quick note Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 2 SOTFS are sort of different.

While some may gripe about the game I will say that it was and is quite good, especially at this price. I played around $65 for the vanilla+upgrade and got 125 hrs out of the game. Its pretty good and well worth it. Yes, it wasnt as good as DS1 but it still had its difficulty and charms. There were some good quality of life changes. I dont own DS3 but at some point I will...maybe when its around this price lol. Kind of burnt out on super intense games for the moment. lol.

Oh my, it must suck then. I thought the first was a painfully slow, unpolished turd. Just came here to find out if the second was better than the first.

It's much more polished and just about as slow. You might like Bloodborne more.

DS2 is great if you like the DS games.

My only real complaint is the Soul Memory system but you can overcome that with the Agape Ring and being really careful. On my 2nd run through I was able to get the Agape Ring before I lost ANY souls. Although... right now my level is relatively high due to not losing many souls and it's actually hard to find summons in the areas I'm in (people in my SM range are in easier areas right now).

The losing max health when you die hollow or get cursed is annoying too but relatively easy to fix.

i like this one better than the first part, ability to travel between bonfires makes it better and avoids bs.

Oh yes they are. Meanwhile I like the placements they put on some enemies, I did not like the EXTRA AGGRESSIVE swarms of enemies. The placement was right for the most part, the numbers were just so wrong. I beat the game multiple times on multiple characters and that's how I felt the entire time.

Difficulty shouldn't be numbers, it should be enemy AI(Though Smelter 2.0 is like a carbon copy with blue flames, his moveset that works your natural reflex against you was the right step forward). The numbers only slows down your progress as you try to carefully lure something out one by one very slowly as SotFS has very aggressive enemies you have to be extra careful.

But hey, no more forest filled with bullshit lions lol. Game is still fun though if you see it as a Dark Souls "like" game and not related completely to DS1 other than lore purposes. Best PvP mechanic though of all the SoulsBorne series.

I'd jump in again if it weren't for that Shrine of Amana level. What a slow, dull, annoying level. Not even challenging except when I charge ahead and get surrounded, I just hated having to snipe those casters.
