Lowe's has the Style Selections Brazilian Teak Wood Laminate Planks on sale for $1/ sq. ft.

These planks are sold in a box of ~25 sq. ft. for $25. So two boxes will cover ~ 50 sq. ft. for $50. You may be able to find a mover's coupon or promo code to further reduce the price.

How does this compare to hone depot's allure? It's not described as waterproof or water resistant.

bad. you can usually tell anything that is under $3-4/sqft normal price is this cheaper thin layer. it's fine if you're in a cheaper house, but not if you're looking for something nice.

you prob want at least 12mm for decent quality and durability

I bought some 7mm Brazilian laminate for. 59 cents a square foot for my house I was going to flip and ended up living in. Stuff feels like crap! Would never go under 12 myself again. Spend more if it is for your house. Money sucks lol.

how thick is standard pergo?

Allure is LVT, this is laminate.

"How it feels" has as much to do with the underlayment you use and the quality of your subfloor as it does the flooring material itself. This is a good deal for someone looking for decent looking but cheap laminate. You can't find anything with a beveled edge this cheap and the beveled edge adds a lot to the authenticity of the look IMO.
