No SSD but it does have Gigabit ethernet.

I might think about it for my daily use.

In reading the reviews on Amazon (same core but little bit different specs), seems there's an extra bay you can actually install another 2.5' drive?

There is a very easily accessible panel on the bottom that gives you access to a unused 2.5 standard sata drive spot, as well as access to the memory.

Looks like a good price, but bad reviews. Can't find the exact model on the crucial website. So what's the max RAM that can be added and will it support SSD (pcie)? Experts please.

Thanks

EDIT: Found it has 2 slots. So max = 16gb or 32gb? Guess 16 should be enough
Also has a SSD slot (from another slickdeals thread)...not sure if it can have both HDD or just 1?
Too bad they changed the resolution correctly to 720p (http://slickdeals.net/f/8817987-acer-aspire-15-6-laptop-core-i5-6200u-4gb-ddr4-1tb-hdd-win-10-350-free-shipping#commentsBox)

this is a good deal for the price.. but I would add another 4gb sodium, I got an Acer w 6gb for $325@ microcenter and it sometimes needs the extra ram for video memory..

They seriously need to drop DVD in those new laptops and add SSD drives. How much longer are they going to feed us with that 5400rpm ugliness. There are hybrid drives at very least.

So does that mean I can add an 128/256 SSD, make it the primary and the 1tb as the secondary. Noob here Smilie

Should be able to, but transferring from a larger drive to a smaller drive is sometimes a bit tricky. Would need to use clonezilla but enable the option to not check the space.

you'd probably have to do a system restore to the ssd then wipe the original for extra space...

I'd buy this but I'm really opposed to trackpads that don't have separate left and right mouse buttons. I know it seems like a minuscule thing but it just feels so unnatural to me to click down on the corner of the trackpad. I don't know why this design became so prevalent because it really sucks.

a dvd drive probably costs them $3. And a 1tb 5400rpm drive is probably as fast as a 500gb 7200rpm drive.

You can get any configuration of laptop you want. But not for $300.

Well, there is a measurable difference but not one that is noticeable to the average PC user.

For speed, there is a night and day difference between SSD and HDD though.
