Only VGA and DVI? Really Dell?

You'd think for the 2016 models, they'd have at least HDMI or DP. But the practice of only VGA and DVI for this series of monitors goes back to 2012. I know they have a VGA and HDMI model, but come on.

Does it matter? It doesn't have audio, so DVI works just as well as HDMI. They only include a VGA cable, so what does it matter if you're getting an HDMI-to-DVI cable, DP-to-DVI cable, or just a straight DVI? The only thing I can think of is if you're using an eyefinity monitor setup, and you only have mDP available on your video card, you'd need an active converter. They probably just use it because between HDMI, DP, and DVI it's the only one that doesn't have any royalty concern.

I have the HDMI version of this monitor, the S2316H, which has a couple of 3w speakers. Just to reiterate OP's note -- it is a glossy monitor. It has an anti-glare coating, but it doesn't really seem to increase the visibility in bright conditions, compared to my other glossy Dell without anti-glare coating (S2340M) the reflection is just softened.

I guess it adds lag and with so many monitor options, I can just wait for a deal that suits my needs.

Dvi and Hdmi use the same signal. The end connectors, for all intents and purposes, are the only differences so there is no additional lag.

That is the reason more informed people ask why HDMI matters if you are using a monitor.

Hipsters don't know how to use DVI cables or $5 HDMI to DVI cable. That's why this has come up on every monitor deal since 2010.
