Nvidia blew us out the water with their performance increase but AMD is undercutting the market it looks like.

Let's hope nvidia follows suit with good some price drops imho

I prefer nvidia but if you don't game at more than 1080p there's not much reason to get the 1060 over this card. Even at 1440 there's not much difference. For the same price it's a toss up but if you can get the AMD for $30-$50 less, it's probably the better deal.

Doubt price drops. The 1060 is the best card out under $325 right now.

The only way the 480 is a better deal is if it's 50% of what the 1060 costs.

You're thinking of the 1070. The 1070 starts at about $380. It's way better than the RX 480. The 1060 ($250-300) is only marginally better than the 480. That being said, I'm waiting until prices come down a bit on the 1060 and will get one instead of a 480.

Edited to clarify that 1070s start under $400 (once the supply and demand evens out).

the only thing I don't like about the 1060 is no SLI, while the 480 you can crossfire.

Find me one deal that has the 1070 for under $400 (in stock). Because I sure can't. I think what you meant to say is the 1070's MSRP is under $400 which won't be for a long while imo.

Yeah, they're not under $400 now because of supply and demand. They are supposed to start at about $380. Now is not a good time to buy any of the graphics cards (except the 480 is starting to be normally priced and in stock again, in part because of the 1060 release).

This is Slickdeals after all so I'm never going to recommend someone pay more than $400 for a 1070, unless it has extra memory and other features worth the additional cost.

The 980ti is under $400 and destroys the 1060.

It was on ebay earlier today for $399 and its been available on Jet with the new customer coupon as low as $360-something. You can get one on newegg right now for $430ish minus the paypal $25 off. Amazon has had one for $409 since yesterday.

I doubt the 10701080 prices will come down a lot more though. The 480 disappointed after the overhype and the 1060 is close enough in price that nvidia can tie that around the 480's neck like an anchor and throw it overboard.

I think within a month $380ish will be pretty routine for the 1070 and $600 for the 1080.

If I were determined to buy a 480 I'd wait until one with an 8 pin connector comes out. AMD neutralized some of the performance hit to lowering the speed/power consumption problem with driver performance improvements but the cards that don't need to be detuned will run that much faster.

I saw a couple this morning for under $360 including a water cooled one. Newegg had one with a rebate and coupon, amazon had a couple 'used like new' and there were some on ebay. Tempting but more power/heat than a 1070.

Very few and that's with rebates but fine, I edited it.

See above.

Fine, I edited it. I made it under $325 since people are finding random deals with rebates for 980ti at $360-399.

With your logic I could say the 980ti is a much better card, the 1060 isnt worth it unless its 50% off.

Only the newegg one had a rebate. The others were straight up deals.

Pesky facts. I hate those 'random' deals you can buy easily from almost everyone.
