Cheap and simple standalone device. My car has been running really crappy lately, but no check engine lights. Out of curiosity, I scanned my car yesterday, and a code came up (without the line being on).

Replaced the part and am hoping it's the fix, but I can't confirm yet.

these are great to have at home if you like to DIY like me but remember AutoZone, Advanced Auto etc will give you a read for free as long as you can drive it in there.

Anyways codes are a huge help but some things / some sensors do not throw a code and leave you guessing. Also a bad part on it way out can cause wrong code ex you can get a code for converter efficiency and need something simple like new spark plugs .Anyways the computer will sometimes sense possible problem and set a code as "pending" but until it meets a defined number of variables it will not actually set a code (turns on your CEL) .So that could be you case a "pending"code or your CEL light has a problem.

yup fair warning though some of the stores readers are not always accurate, I have had really good luck with the cheap Bluetooth adapter and was able to read abs using it and the Ford sys app on Android of course though ymmv

(Got tired of going to autozone myself)

Ya I use usb OBDLink SX w/ScanXL Professional for the PC myself it pulled the ABS codes when I needed it. Got tired on running a long USB cable (no laptop, yet) So I got myself BAFX elm scan Bluetooth for my phone and just have been using torque i'll have to try FordSys.

def try it out if ya got a Ford, it pulled a abs code for me on a elm adapter, I was very impressed by that lol cause we where having some hell with my 98 f150 brakes. Ended up being brake lines but it destroyed my speed sensor on one of my wheels and it popped up on there stating it, I'll eventually get to it and hope that my cruise control will work lol

I have a 04 Tacoma and this has worked wonderful for me. Have used it on other toyotas as well. Can't go wrong with this.

"read and clear codes" It will reset the check engine light but if what's wrong with it triggers it from the start of engine, it makes no sense resetting. If resetting for emissions test all test but one in some areas must be ready to pass, e.g. oxygen sensor, catalytic converter ect
