Many of you probably know this $5 Nestle candy rebate already
http://promoreceipt.com/

I got my rebate within 5 minutes after submission.
Sounds sweet, right?

Here's the big problem: No local retailer would accept this virtual debit card!
Then I tried to use the card to pay for my eBay purchase. It was declined.
I next tried to buy a gift card on gyft.com. It was declined.

Then I googled this virtual debit card thing and found out that pretty much no one could get the card accepted anywhere.

I emailed the virtual debit card customer service. They told me that my amount was larger than $5, thus declined. They also told me to use the card for online purchases only. I have yet to try my card on purchases lower than $5.
But I read that for many people, the card gets declined even if your total is lower than $5.

Also, it's hard to find something that is $5 or under online! Usually shipping alone is higher than $5.

Has anyone been able to use this card successfully? Any suggestions? TIA

Wouldn't the amount be higher than $5?
Customer service told me the card cannot be used on amounts higher than $5.

Many major operators (for me, Comcast, AT&T, and local utility manager all) allow you to specify how much you want to pay for a payment.

The only thing I've found it to work on is reloading an Amazon gift card for 5$ a time.

I bought an Ikea gift card for $5 from their site. No tax with free shipping. Went through without an issue. I figured buying a GC somewhere would be the easiest frustration free way to go about it.

Worked for me no problem at Trader Joe's. Just told them I'm using a virtual gift card and that I had to enter the numbers and they enabled me to enter it on the keypad. He first input that it was for $5. I entered the 16 digit number and the expiration date and the that 3 digit code. Then I paid the rest of the balance on my credit card. I always go to Trader Joe's whenever I have to make payments with two methods.

From what I recall virtual cards worked last year for buying $5 GCs at target.com Then at Target you can use them together to buy something larger (including other GCs carried in store) or have them combined at CS into one GC.

When Amazon asks for the name on the card, what do you put? Your own name?

TIA

I've used them online to buy a $5 Walmart gift card, then print out the Walmart gift card and use it in the store. Walmart isn't my favorite place to shop but $5 is $5.... And yes, I have used my own name when ordering the card, using the address that is in the verbiage of the Nestle offer, I think mine was 111 John Street, New York, NY 10038 Smilie

I tried buying a $5 eGift card from CVS this past Sunday. The order went through, even got an e-mail stating that they are processing my order. But ten minutes later I got another e-mail from CVS/Cashstar:

"Hello xxxx,

We're sorry. We were unable to process your eGift Card order from CVS/pharmacy.

Settled charges will be refunded to the original form of payment. Pending authorizations do not represent capture of funds and will expire according to the policies of the financial institution."

Any way to find the balance of these cards online?

Send your complaints and questions here: http://tpgrewards.com/?page_id=113

This is the company handling the virtual gift cards.

I received 2 $5 dollar virtual cards from Nestle.
I purchased a $10 emailed iTunes card, and it went thru.
I liked that iTunes automatically had the option to use more than one credit card.
I used my name and info, BUT I used the zip code listed on the virtual card as the zip I typed in. It seemed silly, but it did work, and no I didn't try with my real zip, so I can't say if wouldn't have gone thru otherwise.

Update on my Nestle Virtual Debit Card.

After placing an order for a CVS eGift card on 07/24/16, then having CVS cancel the order after placing it (see post #11), and then having CVS place a temporary charge (zero balance) for two weeks, I was able to buy a Target eGift card today with the Nestle debit card.

This was the e-mail address that I was using to get this fixed 'customerservice@tpgny.com'. I e-mailed them about a week ago, and they said it takes 8 business days to get a temporary charge to drop. On Saturday (8/6/16), I e-mailed them again stating that its been 10 business days and the hold is still there. This morning I got a reply, and the hold was lifted.

I was also using this website to see if the hold was still there or not:
