how long are you folks planning on holding these? I got in last time but its been about 2 & 1/2 months and I am getting worried that when I go to cash them there will be zero balance. I have had many problems with other gift card companies where after the time expires to get a refund / return my balances mysteriously disappear. Can I somehow buy new gift card with the ones I have had for almost 3 months? I plan on traveling again but not until spring next year. Any input/advice? Thanks, Bean

Never used Southwest gift cards, but is it not like Amazon, where you can "use" the gift card code and it becomes a spendable balance on your account?

Or do you have to buy an actual ticket right then and there to "redeem" the gift card?

Now why would anyone ever buy a WN gift card when their credit card is so darn churn-able at 50K points a pop?

that do not expire. and can only be redeemed when booking a ticket. but you get all the money when u cancel the ticket.

You do have to buy a ticket to redeem it. Once you buy a ticket and cancel it, the validity is 12 months from that date but it helps make sure that your amount is safe although only for 1 month.

The gift cards itself has no expiry, but the scenario the previous poster mentioned does sounds scary.

Chase is beginning to crack down on these cards as well. There is a restriction that you can have only one card(of the same type) every 24 months. Now they are coming up with a new rule called the 5/24 as well which would mean you can churn through too many credit cards in the prior 24 months before you apply for these.

It's forcing me to use PayPal. Is there any way to use my Chase card through PP? I've transferred my balance to my bank and only have the churn card loaded. Will that automatically use the churn card if I check out with PP?
