Decent price for the specs. However, Blackberry. And then you have to consider what $300 buys you in the Android flagship world these days.

These fools are on dog food if they think people are gonna buy this shit for $400...

With these specs, they should've aimed for $200.

Seems reasonably priced for the specs. If you want a phone for rooting and custom roms, this isn't for you.

Not exactly because the Idol 4 doesn't have the custom BlackBerry security enhancements and software.

Where do you see the Cricket version for $200?

Edit: Found it at http://m.androidcentral.com/cricket-begins-selling-alcatel-idol-4-aug-5-200-free-vr-goggles.

Maybe they should have priced it at $250 then. They have to charge more for the work they did.

well it does have unique software and it comes factory unlocked unlike the cricket version which seems like it will ship with VR goggles on the 5th.

if the android hub is as good as the BB10 hub, and its unlocked is that worth the 100 buck premium ? to some people it probably is ( without a pkb I'm still on the fence)

BB got ( deservedly) reamed for pricing the priv like a flagship, and everyone said " too rich! too rich! they need a midlevel phone!" so they release a mid level phone and people still say based on hardware alone " still not cheap enough!". Margins on these phones are slim and if BB can't get the handset divison to be profitable, they are going to leave the market.

If the rumored PKB mid level phone is priced competitively, at 300 bucks I would definately kick the tires. then again I like my classic.

$199 is a great price for this, which is what it will go for after few months. They are now coupling this with battery pack to increase the value, I assume it will go for $249 without external battery, then $199, sweet spot for a phone that is supposed to get constant updates (hopefully not carrier dependent) and on top nice BB software and features, hub, integration (partial, nowhere near BB10).

Someone will come in and say you can get BB apps now, but not legally and morally. I don't know how people can trust those APK's that are patched by random people. If they can remove the Priv hardware (and now DTEK50) requirement and "patch" them, who knows what else they inject into those apks? Is anyone auditing those? I rather stick with BB hardware, support Blackberry and be safe (that is, if I was buying an Android phone) for now I am happy with Passport.
