There's always a bubble brewing when folks come out the woodwork to hock bullion.

If anything, I think most precious metals have been undervalued, silver especially. Over the past six months, silver has gone up $6/oz, so that it hovers around $20 today. Still way under highs of $50 of years past.

...and the people that bought at $20, 40 years ago and never sold when it went up should have put their money into a basic savings account.

A friend (don't laugh) wants to know how to safely get as close to spot as possible [cash] for 50oz silver in no name bullion. Multiple sales ok but not onesies & twosies.

An honest thank you in advance.

I bought 200oz at $11 back in early 2009. I watched as it climbed, and told myself I'd sell at $50. I was traveling abroad for 2 weeks when it happened. I left when it was around $44, got basically to $50, but by the time I returned 2 weeks later, it was in the mid $30s. Still obviously positive, but definitely one of my biggest misses on timing. Right now, my $2200 is worth near $4K, so I'm still better off than I would have been putting it in savings (especially during this period), but to know I could have sold for $10K stings a bit. Still sitting on it. Home purchase coming up probably in 2017, so hopefully the trend continues and timing works to liquidate at least $5K out of it.
